Job Description

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer - Flight Plan Manager Sabre is a global travel technology company serving the world’s largest industry — travel and tourism. Sabre provides software to travel agencies, corporations, travelers, airlines, hotels, car, rail, cruise and tour operator companies. Flight Plan Manager™ is the market-leading flight planning solution that airlines around the globe use to reduce cost and environmental impact while increasing revenue by:

  • Determining the optimal route on a flight-by-flight basis based on fuel conservation, time, revenue, etc.
  • Automating routine flight planning processes
  • Integrating with industry standardized meteorological and navigational data, aircraft situational display and airspace flow control

The Flight Plan Manager software development team is responsible for the implementation of new features and business requirements, as well as maintaining the existing code base. It also provides support for delivery and customer care in troubleshooting production issues. We are currently looking for experienced Full Stack Software Engineers to join our Vienna team and play a crucial role in the implementation of our internal technology transformation to cloud native / microservice architecture.


  • Drive the transformation to a flexible cloud native microservice-based architecture
  • Drive the migration to modern software frameworks (ie: Java / Spring Boot, OpenShift, NoSQL)
  • Lead technical conversations as well as adoption of best practices
  • Keep up to date with the latest technology trends and best practices
  • Maintain a complex code base, including legacy code (C++, C#, T-SQL)
  • Estimate, design and develop new features within an Agile environment
  • Refactor existing code, use TDD techniques, and apply rules of SOLID Design principles
  • Deliver high quality solutions, even when a “quick fix” may be sufficient
  • Debug code and profile system performance to troubleshoot functional and nonfunctional issues
  • Contribute to feature/function and system test automation
  • Work as part of a local team, in an Agile framework
  • Write documentation for bug fixes and implemented features Job Requirements


  • Good knowledge of Java; Spring Boot is a big plus
  • C++ basic knowledge required; C++/C# expertise is a big plus
  • Database knowledge; T-SQL and MongoDB are pluses
  • Knowledge of messaging and caching frameworks (ie: AMQ, Redis)
  • Knowledge of JavaScript front end frameworks; React is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is a must (English is the working language)
  • Nice to have: C++11, boost, .NET Core, WPF, Domain Driven Design (DDD), SOLID principles
  • Experience in Scrum/Kanban frameworks is a plus
  • Special interest in aviation or flight planning is a plus

For legal reasons we are obliged to state that the minimum gross salary for this position as per collective bargaining contract is minimum level ST1 at € 2.898 monthly, overpayment depending on experience and skills.
